Talisman: An evening of dance presented by Human Nature Contemporary Ballet
The show running March 27-29 will be presented at the Black Box Theater and will feature Talisman as well as an excerpt of The Wall, HNCB's upcoming production in November. Talisman is a reimagining of the legend of La Llorona also known as the weeping woman. The show explores the origins of La Llorona, in a one act contemporary ballet. The untimely loss of Maria & Miguel Angel's child has driven a wedge in their marriage. Hindered by the mourning of her child, Maria has become unaware of her surroundings. She is adamant in finding a reason for her daughter's passing and will stop at nothing to reunite her family. However, the answer she seeks may not be the one she had hoped for.
"When all of your wishes are granted, many of your dreams are destroyed"
Founded in 2015, Human Nature Contemporary Ballet (HNCB) is a local dance company from El Paso, TX. This production of Talisman will mark HNCB's 5th anniversary and will be the first full length show for the company presented outside of their hometown of El Paso. The company aims to use dance as a way of self expression that captures the stories of our time. Ballet forms the foundation for the movement, and the unique style takes inspiration from Contemporary Dance, Martial Arts, and Gymnastics. As a company they push to show the humanity behind the art and remove the mystique often placed on dance. The company's goal is for our audience to see the dancers as people, not as the ethereal beings often portrayed in classical ballet. Dance is something that transcends language and connects us not only as dancers but as humans.
Join us this March 27 & 28 at 8 p.m. and March 29 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and will be available for purchase on line or at the door before each performance. To keep up with Human Nature Contemporary Ballet and for more information on company please visit:
