Description

When Irma Herrera gives her name its correct Spanish pronunciation, people sometimes assume she's not a REAL American-never mind that the native English-speaker's family has been in South Texas for generations, or that she is an award-winning social justice activista, lawyer, and journalist.

Why Would I Mispronounce My Own Name? is one woman's journey from a small segregated South Texas town to California's multicultural mecca. What part of Irma's identity is she asked to give up for the sake of fitting in and getting along? How can a simple introduction turn into a potential battle to be heard and seen? Weaving history and comedic insights into stories about names, this solo performer invites us to consider how open and welcoming we really are.

 New Ticketing
Sadly, we found that the ticketing system we used last season was not convenient for us or our patrons. As a result, we are reverting to the original reservation system. Simply call the theatre at 575-523-1223 and, if we are not there, leave a message with your name (please spell your last name), phone number, the performance you want, the number of seats you want, and any special seating requirements you might have. Please do not use email or other phone numbers to make reservations. since they could get lost!
The theatre is currently rearranged from the earlier shows of the 24-25 season. The stage is currently on the parking lot wall with 6 rows of seating rising from floor level to 40". There are only 12 seats at floor level and the total seating is now reduced to 73 with no ability to add extra seats so please reserve early to assure that you get the seats you want
