May 18-May 19, 2024

Saturday May 18 @ 8:00 pm
Sunday May 19 @ 2:30 pm

Description

The Dance Eclectic is bringing an original show to the Black Box Theater on May 18th & 19th, 2024. La Saison de la Faerie is a new format of show for The Dance Eclectic. They normally focus on a story that has a main character, is based on another easily accessible story, and has an arc of discovery. With this show, the focus is on faeries and the seasons. The show will start in Summer, move through the seasons, then end in Summer again.
The idea for this show was decided upon by all of the members of The Dance Eclectic. They have been focusing on “ballet” type shows for the last 8 years. They have never done a theme show. The faerie theme was put out by all of the members. The idea is that faeries can take all shapes and forms. Some are humans, some look like animals. They decided that the show needed a structure and that it would be fun to progress through the seasons. Each season will have a group piece, a duet, and a solo at least. They will also be joined by The Dance Eclectic Studio and Lexi an Mimi with OddLab Entertainment. They have joined The Dance Eclectic in the past and are very talented.
This show has been collaboratively created and choreographed by The Dance Eclectic. members. We are also excited to present our first show that is thematic.

About The Dance Eclectic
“The Dance Eclectic has worked hard for the last year on this show! This has been a different process that has been embraced by all members. I am continually amazed at these ladies and their creative process,” Creative Director Morgan Rivera says about the collective. “This show has been a different process. It has been interesting to see how the pieces are coming together and the themes that are being shaped throughout.”
The Dance Eclectic seeks to provide opportunities for dancers of all skill levels, backgrounds, and abilities, as well as individuals who are simply creative and want an outlet to dance and work collaboratively with others with similar passions. They are primarily focused on crafting a single creative theatrical production once a year that explores a theme or narrative that the members collectively agree on. These productions are highly collaborative in nature, with every member having a voice in their creation, by contributing original choreography, costuming, and more. They also work to create a larger show, Fringe Dance Festival, once a year to showcase dance in the borderland area. Ages and skill levels of the dancers in the collective vary greatly, with members in their twenties, thirties, and forties; and members who have been dancing since the age of 3, with college degrees in dance, to members who found their passion for dance as recently as 3 years ago.
