Feb 18-Feb 19, 2023
The Dance Eclectic from Las Cruces is bringing a creative and collaborative dance showcase to the Black Box Theater on February 18 and 19, 2022. The dance company has brought pieces that are brand new. They wanted to use this show to build their repertoire. It has been a fun process creating new pieces that are danced for dance sake. There will also be a preview of a piece that will appear in their Summer 2023 show, “A Mad Mad Tea Party.”
The Dance Eclectic is excited to welcome so many talented dancers from the borderland area to join the stage with them. Dancers from all styles, ages, and abilities will be sharing the stage.
The idea for Fringe Dance Festival was originally started by Black Box Theater owner Ceil Herman who wanted to have more dance performances in her theater. It allows companies like The Dance Eclectic to showcase pieces from previous shows that have not been seen in many years. It will also preview a piece from the upcoming Summer 2023 show choreographed by LisaMoya.
About The Dance Eclectic
The Dance Eclectic seeks to provide opportunities for dancers of all skill levels, backgrounds, and abilities, as well as individuals who are simply creative and want an outlet to dance and work collaboratively with others with similar passions. They are primarily focused on crafting a single creative theatrical production once a year that explores a theme or narrative on which the members collectively agree. These productions are highly collaborative, with every member having a voice in their creation, by contributing original choreography, costuming, and more. Ages and skill levels of the dancers in the Collective vary greatly, with members in their twenties, thirties, and forties. Some members have been dancing since the age of 3, some have college degrees in dance, and some members found their passion for dance only in the last few years.
The Dance Eclectic has recently expanded their mission with the creation of The Dance Eclectic Studio. This subset of the company allows us to meet all dancers’ needs. Dancers that are part of this company may be new to dance or are still learning their technique. They may need more training but are still able to choreograph and perform in shows. Members are featured in Fringe Dance Festival and Renaissance Faire. Learn more at http://thedanceeclectic.com
