PETER HERMAN, VICE PRESIDENT/TREASURER/ TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Peter is the Resident Designer/Technical Director of the No Strings Theatre Company and a free lance designer. In recent years he has designed the lights for shows in nearly every Las Cruces theatre venue including: The Hershel Zohn Mainstage (Blithe Spirit, Blood Wedding, Pterodactyls), three evenings of one-acts in the Hershel Zohn Attic theatre, the Las Cruces Community Theatre (Of Mice and Men, Private Eyes, Jake's Women, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead, Man of La Mancha, Arsenic and Old Lace, and Hamlet, as well as the 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002 One-Act Festivals), the Onate Performing Arts Center (The Crucible), Court Youth Center (Marguerita's Secret Diary) as well as dinner theatre and theatre in the NMSU Student Union Club. He was the set designer for Creede (Colorado) Repertory Theatre's Ruthless. He designed lights and/or sets for 30 of NSTC's first 37 productions.  Some of his favorites include Angel Street, A Kind of Alaska/The Lesson, The Lonesome West, Invisible Friends, Collected Stories, Gray, Here, Uncle Vanya, Proof and Circumference of a Squirrel.

He has formal training in lighting design, scenographics, theatre production and stagecraft from NMSU's Theatre Arts Department.

 

Prior to retiring from the university to persue theatre full time, Peter was a member of the NMSU Biology Department where he specialized in Microbial Ecology.
